Candy Charcuterie for Valentines Day

I’ll admit, I can be a little extra sometimes! I don’t do simple well. I love bright pink lipstick, hair extensions, and fancy dishes. High heals, big sunglasses, and pretty everything!

Just as much as I like to be a little extra, I like for others to feel that way too. I want you to feel loved, served, and special. So I tend to sometimes go overboard. You may have experienced this if you have attended one of my classes or events. I pray you always leave with a full heart and a full belly! All my people are EXTRA special to me!!

My mom on the other hand, isn’t so extra. She’s poised and practical. She preaches and practices balance in all things. And it’s probably the balance in my upbringing that keeps me from being too over the top!

My mom kept the simple things simple. She had a way of celebrating us with traditions, balance and thoughtful gestures.

Growing up, each year we could count on an Ice Cream Cake as our sweet little Valentine. We were blessed with it as a family gift, just a little something with Be Mine written in red. Something simple and sweet saying I love you and your special to me! This little treat wasn’t something expected, but anticipated. It was a fun treat for a family that didn’t typically have dessert after dinners.

Little memories of moments like this have guided me as a parent to keep the simple things simple. Valentine’s Day is one I keep simple, yet fun. In years past we’ve held at home fondue parties, we’ve had a make your own chocolate covered strawberries night, and we’ve even had a few surprise heart shaped ice cream cakes too in celebration of this special day.

I’ve come up with a few new and simple ways to create something fun and show some love this Valentines Day. I love these simple ideas that are totally affordable and can be fun for the whole family.

Candy Charcuterie

Candy Charcuterie

Grab 4-6 different candies that you know your tribe will love and make a dessert board for them to share after dinner!

Try to stay in the red, pink, and white color scheme and don’t be afraid to add mini cupcakes, fudge dipped pretzels, or store bought cookies too.

Use a cheeseboard, serving tray or a cute platter and arrange all the goodies, overlapping them to cover the board completely.
