5 easy, no-cook appetizers

I love cooking. I love making new dishes, full meals and all the things. But this New Years Eve I’ve decided to keep it simple. Good food doesn’t always have to be complicated. In my recent appetizer and cocktail cooking classes I’ve shared my secret to hosting and serving company with ease. Now, I want to share my secrets with you too!
I’ve put together a list of my top 5 favorite grocery store must haves for easy appetizers and hosting company.
Typically when I host a gathering, or even prepare a snack spread I combine a few easy grocery store grabs with a couple easy make ahead appetizers. Then one or two actual homemade items!
Oh, and don’t forget to hit up the grocery store discount floral section, they always have flowers at such good prices and typical they stay looking great for days!

My Top 5 Favorite, Easy, No-cook Grocery Store Appetizers

1. Marinated olives - you can’t go wrong with a variety of olives. Aldi carries a package of marinated olives in their refrigerator section that I simply love.

2. Fresh bread from the grocery store deli is always a good idea. I love the French loaves, they are great for making little sandwiches or crostini.

3. Shrimp Cocktail. It’s filling, healthy, and creates a gourmet feel to your snack spread and it is so simple. Open the bag, rinse and drain. I serve mine over ice with extra spicy cocktail sauce.

4. Good Cream Cheese and a jar of your favorite jam. Pair this with a side of crackers. My favorite jam to serve over cream cheese is Garlic Pepper Jelly, shop our favorite jam and jelly here.

5. Meat & Cheese trays. Grocery stores have really upped their game in this department. With the popularity of Charcuterie Boards, many grocery stores have packages of really good dried meats and cheeses available.

2 easy, no-cook snacks

1. Dips and crudités. Dips are so simple and can be made a few days ahead. I like to serve two or three dips and a large tray of veggies along with pita chips and some crunchy potato chips.

Dill and Chive Dip

1 container of sour cream.
1 tsp. chopped fresh dill.
1 tsp. Chopped fresh chives.
1/4 tsp. French Picnic Salt (with herbs) sold here.

Combine all ingredients and stop well. Refrigerate for flavors to come together and serve with veggies or chips.

Homemade Hummus

1 can drained and rinsed chickpeas.
2 Tbsp. Tahini (sesame seed paste).
4 cloves garlic.
Juice from 1 lemon.
1/2 cup olive oil.
salt and pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in the food processor and blend well until completely smooth.
