Mom Mom's Pasta Sauce
My husband’s mama is a great cook and share this simple pasta sauce recipe with me years ago.
2 Tbsp. olive oil
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 small onion, chopped
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
2 Tbsp. sugar
2 29 oz. cans tomato sauce
1/4 tsp. oregano
handful fresh basil, thinly chopped
handful fresh parsley, chopped
Fresh Parmesan cheese, grated
In a large saucepan saute garlic and onion in olive oil for about 3 minutes.
Add salt, pepper, and sugar then cans of tomato sauce. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer.
Add herbs and cheese and allow sauce to simmer for up to one hour over very low heat.
Add cooked Italian sausage, meatballs, or ground beef for a meat sauce.
This sauce can be used with store bought ravioli, served over spaghetti, or as the base to meatball subs.
Slow Cooker Method:
Saute garlic and onions in olive oil, add to slow cooker. Add all other ingredients and cool on low for 8 hours.
