Grandma Betty’s Rolls

Makes 12 rolls

  • 2 cups lukewarm water

  • 2 packages yeast

  • 2 tsp. Salt

  • 6 cups flour, divided

  • 2 eggs

  • ¼ cup oil

  1. In mixing bowl sprinkle yeast packets over water and cover with a clean towel.  Set aside for 5 minutes.

  2. Stir in 3 cups flour, eggs, and oil.  Stir well. Stir in remaining 3 cups of flour (this is much easier using a stand mixer and dough hook, but a wooden spoon will do the trick if that’s all you have.)

  3. Pour into a greased bowl and cover with a towel.  Place in a warm location, away from drafts until dough has doubled in size.

  4. Turn dough out onto a floured surface and using a pizza roller, cut dough into 12 equal sections,

  5. Roll each section into a ball and place in a greased 9x13 pan.  Cover rolls with towel again and allow them to rise for about 1 hour.

  6. Bake in 375 degree preheated oven 20-25 minutes.

  7. Brush rolls with melted butter about halfway through baking and again once you pull them out of the oven.
